Cupcakes. My mom and I made them together when I was a kid. She always let me choose the colors of those little paper cupcake wrappers, and I would place them ever so carefully in the cupcake pan. It was exciting.
As we filled each one, I always worried we weren’t putting in enough batter, but when they came out of the oven, they were perfect! Funny how mom just knew stuff like that.
Waiting for those little beauties to cool off so I could frost them with my favorite chocolate butter cream frosting was hard. When mom finally gave the okay, I carefully piled on the icing and covered every inch of the tops. Sometimes she would even let me add sprinkles.
They were gorgeous and I could hardly wait to sink my teeth into the first one. Mmmm… chocolate frosting… delicious cake… lick the cupcake wrapper clean.
